The course
The marathon that closes IRONMAN Italy Emilia-Romagna, run after a 3.8 km sea swim and a 180 km bike. It is four flat laps of about 10.5 km between Cervia and Milano Marittima: through Cervia's centre and past the old salt warehouse, along the pine-lined avenues and roundabouts of Milano Marittima, and back by the sea. There are no hills to speak of; the challenges are the heat of a September afternoon, the repetition of the laps and the 180 km already in your legs. It finishes on the Cervia seafront. A flat course: 6 m between the lowest and highest point.
