The course
A flat marathon through the centre of Florence that starts and finishes at Piazza del Duomo. From the cathedral it heads past San Marco and over the Ponte della Vittoria to the Lungarni, the embankments along the Arno, and through the tree-lined avenues of the Cascine park. The course crosses the river several times, passing Santa Croce and the Ponte Vecchio, and around 30 km goes out to Campo di Marte, past the Stadio Artemio Franchi and the Nelson Mandela Forum, before turning back into the historic centre to finish by the Duomo and the Baptistery. The final kilometres include stone-paved streets in the old town, which can be slippery in the rain. Route map and elevation profile below.
A flat course: 19 m between the lowest and highest point.
