The course
A two-lap marathon that starts and finishes outside the Cadbury Chocolate Factory in Claremont, north of Hobart. Each lap opens with a loop of the Cadbury Estate, then runs down Cadbury Road to Main Road and along the Brooker Highway to the Derwent Entertainment Centre. From there it follows Goodwood Road across the Bowen Bridge over the River Derwent, turns about 130 m past the bridge, and comes back the same way, so the marathon crosses the bridge four times. Much of the course runs beside the Derwent; the bridge and the return up to the factory bring the climbing. Route map and elevation profile below.
